    Meet the team
    behind your specialty submissions.

Each edition, we introduce the SPG Canada underwriters and business development professionals brokers work with directly — their areas of focus, and what they look for in a submission.

While Diana leads a robust underwriting team with deep expertise in Natural Resources, Environmental, and Contractor industry verticals, she is also supported by three specialist VPs in the Complex Risk team. Below, the three risk types each most want brokers to send their way, in their own words. And, if you’re unsure who to approach — you can send your submission to underwriting@spgcanada.ca and the team will collaborate to ensure we deliver a competitive and fulsome solution.

“I’m drawn to lines that require real thought. These risks demand a genuine understanding of how a business operates — how inventory moves, how high-value assets create exposures that shift daily, and how a property’s value evolves over time. No two risks are ever really the same.”

“I enjoy working in complex risk because it lets me look at a variety of risks and companies — not the same class every day. We particularly have success in manufacturing and wholesale with US sales including risks with sales offices or warehouses in the US. We prefer to review the risk from the primary up but are also very successful when reviewing excess layers as we have the capability of putting up over $100M on an excess basis, depending on the operations.”

    • Manufacturing
    • Construction & Rail
    • Gas Storage & Wholesale

“What I enjoy most about these sectors is the variety. Manufacturing can mean anything from a small fabrication shop to a large industrial operation. Construction brings a different mix of contractors, project types, and site conditions every time. Rail brings a level of operational complexity and a level of regulation that takes time to really understand. And gas storage and wholesale has its own distinct infrastructure and operational risks that set it apart from everything else. In all four areas, my view is simple: the better you understand the business, the better you can serve the client.”
