JOHANN SCHNEIDER

Johann Schneider began his insurance career in 1995 at Family Insurance as an Underwriting Analyst. During his tenure he made significant contribution to the growth of Family Insurance, helping to establish it as a leading innovator in the industry by the time he departed the company in 2002. Following this, Johann took on the role of Vice President, Underwriting and Operations at a well-known retail brokerage in B.C. where he implemented an entirely new underwriting, policy production and management system that resulted in a twofold increase of commission income within 4 years. As a shareholder of the brokerage’s management company, Johann’s interest in the brokerage was sold as part of its overall sale in late 2006; paving the way for him to open a new MGA, i3 Underwriting. Today, Johann is the President of i3 Underwriting Managers Inc., part of the Specialty Program Group Canada (SPGC) umbrella. He started i3 Underwriting with the help of two other partners in 2007, initially backed by Lloyd’s of London, and grew the company to a team of 34 staff with a national presence and focus on casualty and specialty property lines. Of note, i3 Underwriting was the first virtual coverholder approved by Lloyd’s and remains an independently operated MGA, utilizing top-notch information technology infrastructure that he designed and implemented and is now being adopted by the entire SPGC family of MGA brands. Johann remains an avid contributor to the Canadian insurance landscape where he currently sits on the board for the Canadian Association of Managing General Agents (CAMGA).
