Job Overview

We are looking for an Underwriting Assistant to support our growing Aviation team.  In this role, you will provide direct support to our underwriters across a range of administrative and operational tasks, including policy reviews, endorsements, renewal support, policy issuance, and ad hoc requests as they arise. This role calls for someone who takes ownership of their work and holds themselves accountable, while also bringing a genuine eagerness to learn and grow within the insurance industry.

This is a hybrid position based in our Burlington, ON office.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Issuing policy documentation in a timely manner with great attention-to-detail (i.e. policy issuance, certificate issuance, invoice issuance)
  • Create and issue mid-term endorsements and invoices.
  • Keep up to date and detailed records in our underwriting and administration systems
  • Support Underwriting team by liaising with brokers regarding administrative functions (i.e. sending policy and invoice documents, advising policy numbers)
  • Issue Notice of Cancellations where needed, including the physical distribution via registered mail as requested.
  • Support the Finance department through cross-team collaboration where needed.
  • Provide back-up to other Underwriting Assistants as needed.
  • Be an integral team member by supporting both Underwriters, other Underwriting Assistants, Claims and Finance departments.
  • Contribute to the management team’s overall effort and direction of the company.

Qualifications and Characteristics

You’re a good fit if you have:

  • Proven administration experience and insurance industry experience considered an asset
  • A valid RIBO or General Insurance Broker License in the province in which you reside considered an asset.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to develop strong relationships and work within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and show initiative.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Above-average computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and hands-on experience working in a paperless environment with “smart systems”.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities, deadlines, tasks, and technology.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position ranges from $40,000 to $45,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
