Specialty Claims Canada “Specialty Claims” is the in-house claims management department of Specialty Programs Group Canada “SPG Canada”. Specialty Claims prides itself on managing claims on behalf of the Cansure, Totten, i3, and Beacon brands. We manage claims for both our Canadian and London based market partners under a delegated authority. It is the intent of Specialty Claims to provide top-level claims service, to respond quickly to inquiries, and to resolve outstanding claims as soon as practicable. Overview

We are looking for an experienced Claims Examiner to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and adjudicating Personal, Commercial, and Specialty Lines Property and Casualty claims across all Canadian provinces, ensuring each claim is handled with accuracy, fairness, and a commitment to exceptional service.

You will play a key role in assessing coverage, analyzing reports from adjusters, experts, and legal counsel, and providing recommendations to Domestic and Lloyd’s of London Underwriters on complex claims. Working closely with Underwriters, Brokers, and various stakeholders, you will ensure that company protocols and reserving guidelines are adhered to throughout the claims handling process.

This is a hybrid/remote position out of any of our offices (BC, NS, NB, ON, QC). While preference will be given to candidates who can be hybrid, we are also open to candidates in all Canadian provinces.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Analyze and assess coverage of Personal and Commercial Property and Casualty Claims
  • Reviewing and analyzing reports from various service providers including adjusters/experts/lawyers
  • Reporting to and making recommendations to various Underwriters on complex claims (Domestic and Lloyds of London Underwriters)
  • Ensuring that company claims protocols and guidelines are adhered to throughout the claims handling process including setting and maintaining loss and expense reserves
  • Liaise with Underwriters, Brokers and other stakeholders in a professional and efficient manner

Qualifications and Characteristics 

You’re a good fit if you have:

  • 3 – 5+ years of Property and Casualty Claims Adjusting/Claims Handling experience
  • or currently pursuing Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designations
  • Currently hold at least a Level 2 Insurance Broker or Adjuster License in your home jurisdiction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills including understanding all policy wordings
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Able to work well independently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet various deadlines and keep organized
  • While not required, French language skills are considered an asset.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is from $60,000 – 90,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
