The story beyond your coverage.

Beacon Off-Road Vehicles, Now Part of mySPG

ATVs, snowmobiles, off-road bikes, and snow bikes carry risks that a standard auto policy was never built to handle. That’s where Beacon Off-Road Vehicles comes in — a specialty program from Beacon by SPG Canada, available through licensed insurance brokers in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

What started as Beacon is now Beacon by SPG Canada, and it’s part of mySPG: the same coverage, the same team, with a clearer connection to the broader SPG Canada family.

Whether you spend weekends on backcountry trails, ride sled paths through the winter, or take the family quad out to the cabin, your off-road vehicle is more than a machine. It’s where your story happens. We make sure that story is protected.

What Beacon Off-Road Vehicles covers?

The program is built around how riders actually use their vehicles, with flexible options your broker can match to your situation:

  • Liability coverage — protects you against third-party claims if you injure someone or damage their property

  • Physical Damage coverage — protects the vehicle itself, available with All Risk wording (broadest protection) or Specified Perils wording (more cost-effective for off-season risks)

  • Agreed Value settlement — total losses settled at the full insured limit. Partial losses covered at the actual cost of repairs. No depreciation surprises at claim time

Eligible vehicles

If you ride it off-road, Beacon Off-Road Vehicles likely covers it:

  • ATVs and quads — recreational and utility models

  • Side-by-sides (UTVs) — including sport and work configurations

  • Snowmobiles — touring, mountain, and trail sleds

  • Off-road motorcycles — enduro, motocross, and trail bikes

  • Snow bikes — purpose-built and conversion kits

Ask your insurance broker about your specific vehicle and use case.

What’s included beyond the basics?

These extras come standard with Beacon Off-Road Vehicles — because riders deal with a different set of realities than drivers do:

  • Riding gear — helmets, jackets, boots, and protective equipment

  • Lock re-keying — if your keys are stolen, you’re covered for the cost of new locks and keys

  • Travel protection and loss of use — coverage when your vehicle is out of commission after a covered loss

  • Safety and maintenance equipment — tools, repair gear, and safety kits that travel with you

  • Reward coverage — funds toward a reward for the recovery of a stolen vehicle

  • Optional Accident Benefits and Rescue Expense coverage — for the moments when help has to come to you

Available in BC, SK, and MB

Beacon Off-Road Vehicles is currently available through licensed insurance brokers in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Your broker can help you understand whether the program fits the way you ride and the vehicle you ride.

Why Beacon by SPG Canada?
  • Built specifically for off-road riders — not a car policy with an off-road add-on

  • Agreed Value, not Actual Cash Value — your vehicle is worth what you and your broker agreed it was worth, not what an adjuster decides later

  • Flexible policy wording — All Risk or Specified Perils, so you only pay for the coverage you actually need

  • Riding gear is part of the policy — helmets, boots, and jackets aren’t just accessories; they’re protected

  • A name behind the name — Beacon Off-Road Vehicles is now part of mySPG, the policyholder community of SPG Canada

A note on the name

You may have known us simply as Beacon. We’re now Beacon by SPG Canada, part of the mySPG community. Beacon Off-Road Vehicles is the same coverage, same team — just a clearer connection to the SPG Canada family that has stood behind your policy all along.

BC FAQs

We will pay the cost of retrieving and repairing the unit, if it’s involved in a covered loss, up to the limit. So, the limit of coverage for retrieval (in the event of a covered loss) is the limit shown on the dec. page. It’s important to note that retrieval expenses are inclusive of (not in addition to) the limit of insurance shown on the dec. page. Whatever is paid for retrieval reduces the amount available to pay for repairs.
No. Search and Rescues mission is to find people – not things.
Search and Rescue isn’t always free depending on where you are using your unit. It’s also important to remember this coverage only kicks in if you are obligated to pay by reason of liability imposed upon you by law or statute.
Yes. Depending on the coverage required, it may be best to place all risk coverage and off-road liability on the same policy. This would provide coverage on and off road for physical damage and off-road liability. If you do not use the Enduro bike off road, and do not require off road liability – the bike can be placed on the Beacon RideSmart Motorcycle Program.
These are private pleasure use only policies. Consideration can be given to add Incidental Business Use to the policy but must fit within underwriter guidelines and must be approved by the Practice Leader. Please talk to your insurance broker for more information on this option.
All applicants must be of legal age to enter a contact (18 years of age). A minor can be listed as a primary operator, but the policy will need to be in the name of the guardian/parent. It’s important to remember this is third party liability and is not covering the minor. It’s also important to remember that all operators must be abiding by the law, and all manufacturer safety operating guidelines.
Yes, but exclusions apply regarding property that is waterborne.
As long as the operator is abiding by the law, and has all risk coverage, the policy would respond to a covered collision claim in this situation.
Any Off-Road Club that requires a paid membership will go toward obtaining a Club Membership Discount on your policy. Let your broker know if you don’t see this discount on your policy declaration page.

The liability mentioned in this policy is in excess to any coverage provided through SGI for Snowmobiles. And primary for all other ORV’s.
