Beacon Boats (Pleasure Craft)

Our cornerstone product, and one of the reasons we’re one of Canada’s largest providers of pleasure craft insurance. All Risk coverage on an Agreed Value basis, competitively priced, for the widest range of vessels imaginable.

What Beacon Boats includes:

  • All Risk, Agreed Value policy — you and your broker agree on what your boat is worth at the start of the policy, so there are no surprises at claim time

  • Rental Expense coverage — if your boat is out of the water after a covered loss, you’re not stuck on shore

  • Emergency Towing — included, not an add-on

  • Extra Expense coverage — for the costs that come up when things don’t go to plan

  • Underinsured Boater Protection — coverage if you’re hit by someone without adequate insurance

  • No sub-limits for water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing — the fun stuff is fully covered

  • Up to $5,000,000 Protection and Indemnity (liability) coverage available

Eligible vessels include: Wooden hulls, fiberglass, sailboats, houseboats, river boats, runabouts, bowriders, pontoons, and more. If it floats and it’s for pleasure, Beacon Boats likely covers it.

Beacon Personal Watercraft (PWC)

We’ve expanded our offering with a solution built specifically for personal watercraft owners — jet skis, Sea-Doos, WaveRunners, and similar craft.

Modified All Risk Coverage with Theft Restriction

Beacon Personal Watercraft offers a flexible, cost-effective option that gives you reduced premiums while keeping theft protection, as long as a few security measures are in place:

  • Locked and chained to an immovable object, or

  • Secured on a locked trailer or boat lift system, or

  • Stored in a fully enclosed, locked building or container

Pleasure Craft FAQs

A Condition and Valuation Marine Survey helps determine the current condition and current market value of the vessel. Surveys are generally required on older vessels or custom-built vessels.

Our Navigational limit are as follows: WARRANTED during the currency of this policy the insured property is operated only within Canada and the Continental USA, limited to a 1,500-mile radius of your address provided on the Policy Declaration Page and with respect to:

i) Coastal waters of British Columbia not North of Skagway, Alaska (60 degrees North Latitude), and not South of Westport, Washington (47 degrees North Latitude), in any event not exceeding 200 miles offshore.

OR

ii) Coastal waters of Eastern Canada not North of Henley Harbour, Labrador (52 degrees North Latitude), and not South of Gloucester, Massachusetts (42.5 degrees North Latitude), in any event not exceeding 200 miles offshore.
