Beacon Hole in One

The story beyond your coverage.

Hole in One

Fast, Flexible, and Fully Covered on the Course

Beacon Hole in One, Now Part of MySPG

Every great golf tournament needs a great prize. Beacon Hole in One lets you offer one — without the risk of paying for it out of pocket.

Whether you’re running a single charity scramble, a corporate tournament, or a full season of club events, Beacon by SPG Canada insures the prize so you can put your name on it with confidence. It’s a promotional tool that gets people talking, and a fundraising lever that gets sponsors signing on.

What started as Beacon is now Beacon by SPG Canada, and it’s part of MySPG: the same coverage you trust, with a clearer connection to the broader SPG Canada family.

Whether you’re a tournament organizer, a club professional planning a season’s worth of events, or a sponsor looking for a memorable way to put your brand on the course, your tournament is more than 18 holes. It’s where your story happens. We make sure that story is protected.

What Beacon Hole in One covers?

Beacon Hole in One is a prize indemnification policy. You insure the prize before the tournament, and if a golfer makes a hole in one on the insured hole, the policy pays the prize — not you.
The program is built to flex around how tournaments actually run:

Single Tournament Coverage, for one-day events, corporate outings, and standalone fundraisers:

  • Prize limits up to $100,000, scaling from modest gift certificates to flagship car prizes

  • Individual hole coverage, insuring one specific hole at one tournament

  • Multiple hole coverage, insuring two or more holes at the same tournament

  • Multi-round coverage, for tournaments that run across more than one round

Seasonal Tournament Package, for clubs and organizers running a full season of events:

  • Prize limits up to $50,000 per policy

  • Covers 5, 10, 15, or 20 tournaments on a single policy, matched to your season’s schedule

Both options include the Prize Reinstatement Option. If a winner is declared, the full prize is reinstated so the next golfers attempting the insured hole still have a real prize to play for, available for an additional premium.

Why tournaments use prize indemnification?

A hole-in-one prize is one of the most effective ways to turn a regular tournament into a memorable one. It draws players, attracts sponsors, and creates the kind of story that gets people coming back next year.
But putting a $20,000 or $100,000 prize on the line without insurance means the tournament organizer is on the hook if someone actually makes the shot. Prize indemnification transfers that risk to the policy, at a small fraction of the prize value:

  • Sponsors get visibility — their name goes on the prize, not their cheque book
  • Organizers get certainty — the prize is real, but the financial risk isn’t yours
  • Players get a real shot at something significant — which is half the reason they signed up
Who Beacon Hole in One is built for?

Beacon Hole in One works for the full range of golf tournament formats:

  • Charity tournaments and fundraisers — scrambles, shotgun starts, and shamble formats
  • Corporate tournaments — client appreciation days and company outings
  • Club events — member-guest tournaments, member championships, season-long competitions
  • Sponsor activations — branded hole sponsorships at larger events
  • Pro shop seasonal coverage — club professionals insuring a slate of events across a season

If the format isn’t on this list, ask your insurance broker. Most tournament types are eligible under the program.

How it works in practice?

The program is simple by design:

  • 1
Talk to your insurance broker about the tournament, the prize, the date, and the hole specifications
  • 2
The broker confirms the prize value, the hole length, and any eligibility rules (typically a minimum distance and an unobstructed shot to the pin)
  • 3
Coverage is bound before the tournament, with the certificate issued in time for sponsor and venue requirements
  • 4
If a winner makes the shot, the policy pays the prize, verified through standard witnessing requirements
  • 5
With the Prize Reinstatement Option, the prize resets so any remaining golfers still have something real to play for
Why Beacon by SPG Canada?
  • Competitive rates — pricing that lets organizers offer a serious prize without a serious premium

  • Flexible structures — single hole, multiple holes, tournament, or full season — the policy matches your format

  • Prize Reinstatement Option — keeps the tournament exciting for every group, not just the one that wins

  • Sponsorship-friendly — built for the way sponsors and organizers actually structure prize packages

  • A name behind the name — Beacon Hole in One is now part of mySPG, the policyholder community of SPG Canada

Ask your insurance broker

Your broker is the person who can match Beacon Hole in One to your tournament, your prize, and your timing. Talk to them early — ideally as soon as the tournament date and prize structure are confirmed — so the coverage is in place well before tee-off.

A note on the name

You may have known us simply as Beacon. We’re now Beacon by SPG Canada, part of the MySPG community. Beacon Hole in One is the same coverage, same team, same competitive rates — just a clearer connection to the SPG Canada family that has stood behind your policy all along.
