Our Vancouver head office, which serves approx. 300 in-office, hybrid, and remote employees across Canada is seeking a People & Culture Associate.  This role suits an experienced HR Advisor looking to take their career to the next level. As a true generalist, the People & Culture Associate is responsible for the administration and coordination of a range of human resources functions.  Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, the Associate will join our lean team helping with day-to-day people practices, including Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance Management, and People Development.  In addition to the regular People & Culture operations, this role will take on new and exciting projects that both fill a business need and play to their natural strengths.  This position is located in Vancouver with flexibility for a hybrid arrangement.

  • Assist in recruiting and talent attraction efforts
  • Prepare for and attend career fairs
  • Pre-screen candidates for hiring managers
  • Coach and train managers on interviewing best practices
  • Maintain candidate pool and track candidates throughout the recruiting process
  • Provide a welcoming environment for new hires
  • Assist with onboarding activities
  • Enter, maintain, and update data in our HRIS
  • Provide guidance to employees on HR processes
  • Host drop-in sessions for employees on a variety of HR-related topics
  • Collaborate on and drive employee engagement initiatives
  • Support and coach leaders as employee issues arise
  • Facilitate Lunch and Learn sessions for leadership training and development
  • Coach and collaborate with managers on talent development and succession plans
  • Partner with leaders to provide direction and implementation of regional and corporate HR programs and services
  • Leverage technology to design engaging and interactive learning content
  • Create content for our internal Teams channels
  • Assist in building and implementing a new performance-tracking program
  • Promote a culture that aligns with our corporate values
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with employees and leaders
  • Support Health and Wellbeing programs 
  • Maintain concise, organized employee files and documentation
  • Identify legal requirements and company standards, and ensure compliance in our practices 
  • Analyze trends and metrics to offer solutions and programs 
  • Other People & Culture Team support as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2 – 3 years of HR experience
  • Completion of a post-secondary HR diploma or degree preferred
  • Previous experience in Insurance or other professionally regulated industry is preferred
  • Previous experience with Workday is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships
  • Advanced technology/computer skills 
  • Confidence in procedural decisions and judgements
  • Strong organizational skills to work efficiently and meet deadlines
