Job Overview

SPG Canada is accelerating its growth in Ontario, and we are seeking a seasoned, strategic Business Development Manager to lead this expansion. This high-impact role is ideal for a driven professional with deep experience in the property and casualty insurance industry in Ontario and a proven ability to build market share through targeted business development initiatives.

As the primary representative of SPG Canada in Ontario, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and refining a comprehensive regional growth strategy. This includes identifying new opportunities, deepening relationships with broker partners, and positioning SPG Canada as a preferred insurance provider across the province.

This is a Hybrid position in our Ontario office. 

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy to expand SPG Canada’s footprint in Ontario, aligned with national objectives and local market dynamics
  • Conduct market analysis to identify emerging opportunities, competitive positioning, and broker segmentation strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact
  • Coordinate, manage, and attend Ontario broker association conventions, industry events, and related tradeshows as needed
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations for external business planning meetings and strategic engagements
  • Work closely with SPG Canada’s broker training specialist to provide tailored training to broker partners on SPG Canada products, systems, and digital tools
  • Collaborate with marketing and underwriting teams to support new product launches and promotional campaigns
  • Act as a liaison for broker feedback, issue resolution, and escalation to senior leadership
  • Partner with the SVP, Business Development on regional distribution strategy, marketing initiatives and strategic project

Qualifications and Characteristics

You’re a good fit if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience in the property and casualty insurance industry in Ontario
  • CIP, CRM, or CAIB designations are considered an asset
  • Confident and effective communicator, comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to travel by air and car for business purposes across Ontario
  • Possess a valid ON driver’s license and access to a vehicle for business travel

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is from $100,000 – $120,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
