SPG Canada Rebrand

A Strategic Evolution Forward

SPG Canada Rebrand: A Strategic Evolution Forward

On August 1st, 2025, we announced an exciting new chapter: Cansure, Beacon, i3 Underwriting, Totten Insurance Group, and Anderson McTague & Associates will begin to evolve and unify under a single, national brand, SPG Canada. This rebrand represents more than a name change; it reflects our continued evolution as a leading force in delegated underwriting across Canada.

For decades, our businesses have thrived by staying agile, cultivating deep expertise, and delivering consistently exceptional service. Thanks to the trust of our partners and the dedication of our people, we’ve grown into the largest Delegated Underwriting Authority Enterprise (DUAE) in Canada, transacting over $1 billion in premium annually.

Now, we’re building on that momentum. By evolving our brand legacies, our future as SPG Canada will:

  • Streamline operations by creating efficiencies and simplifying processes from Operations to Underwriting
  • Clarify our market presence with one strong, recognizable brand delivering best-in-class solutions
  • Create stronger alignment, offering a more consistent experience externally for all our customers
  • Leverage technology to propel our product innovation and delivery of bespoke insurance coverage solutions

Since the announcement, we’ve been inspired by the support and excitement shared by our employees, carrier partners, and broker community. This is not a departure from what made us successful, it’s a step forward built on those very foundations.

Our focus for 2025 and beyond is to scale smartly, preserving the strength of our specialized underwriting while unlocking the advantages of a shared infrastructure and unified voice. Operating as SPG Canada, we are now better positioned to grow, lead, and continue delivering value in a rapidly changing marketplace.

SPG Canada Rebrand – Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

We’re evolving! Beginning August 1, 2025, Specialty Program Group Canada Inc. (including i3 Underwriting, Cansure, Beacon, Totten Insurance Group, and Anderson McTague & Associates) will begin a brand transformation to SPG Canada. The transition is expected to continue throughout 2026 as we handle run-off business under our legacy brands systems. The first brands to evolve as of August 1, 2025 are i3 Underwriting, and Buildersure by Cansure.

We’re rebranding to make it easier for our customers to work with us. A unified brand helps streamline operations and improve service to our customers across Canada.

Not right away. A new agreement will be introduced later in 2025 to replace existing Terms of Business Agreements (TOBAs). It will be between your brokerage and Specialty Program Group Canada Inc., our legal entity name.

ACCOUNTING

Yes. As we manage both legacy run-off business and new SPG Canada business, please ensure that SPG Canada is added as a new payee in your BMS. For any statements or invoices issued under the SPG Canada brand, payments must be directed to the corresponding bank account.

You will need to add “SPG Canada” as a new payee name in your system.

Contact accounting@spgcanada.ca to get the bank details for SPG Canada. Please note that the bank remittance details are the same as the i3 Underwriting details. If you currently work with i3 Underwriting, for ease, you can:
1. Set up a new payee name as “SPG Canada” in your system,
2. Copy the bank remittance details from i3 Underwriting over to the new SPG Canada payee, reflecting “SPG Canada” as the payee. This account is set-up to receive payment in both names.

For legacy brands (Cansure, Beacon, Totten, Anderson McTague.), continue to remit payments according to the instructions provided on the respective statements and invoices. Do not update or replace remittance information for any legacy brands at this time, as some legacy bank accounts may still be in use for brands that have not yet transitioned to SPG Canada.

You’ll receive up to 5 different statements from our brands: SPG Canada, Cansure (legacy), Beacon (legacy), Totten (legacy), and Anderson McTague (legacy).

SPG Canada-branded statements include new and renewed policies under the new brand. You will also see any endorsements for existing i3 Underwriting accounts on the SPG Canada statement that have had a mid-term transaction with premium payable and has not yet renewed to SPG Canada. Legacy brand statements (Cansure, Beacon, Totten, Anderson McTague) for policies still in their original systems will still be issued Continue paying each statement according to its instructions—no changes to existing accounting information for our legacy brands.

CONTACTS & COMMUNICATION

Yes. We will be gradually moving all underwriters across all brands to the @spgcanada.ca domain. We will be doing this in phases, beginning with staff working in our unified system as SPG Canada. You will know what brand they are communicating to you from by referring to the logo in their email address signature. The new SPG Canada email format will be follow firstname.lastname@spgcanada.ca
Example:

Old: jsmith@cansure.com or jane@i3underwriting.com

New: jane.smith@spgcanada.ca

We will redirect certain general inboxes that reflect legacy branding, to the new updated brand domain. To keep it simple, continue emailing our team as you normally would! Because this is a gradual transition, you can continue to send to underwriting@i3underwriting.com or to jane@i3underwriting.com (for example) – we’ll handle the automated redirect.

Not to worry, as we go through this period of change, we will be redirecting existing mailboxes to the new rebranded mailboxes so that we don’t lose your communications to our teams. You’ll start to see replies with an @spgcanada.ca domain over time; and we will provide clear instructions when it comes time for you to update your contact list for us.

The submission process remains the same for now. Over time, you can expect to see improvements as we streamline systems under the new brand. If submission inboxes change, we will let you know!

CLAIMS

Nope! Claims will continue to be managed by Specialty Claims Canada with no changes to contacts or processes. If you need more information about our claims management team, you can visit them at: https://specialtyclaims.ca/

PRODUCTS & COVERAGE

Our rebrand is driven by a technology project to consolidate existing and separate systems into one new unified SPG Canada platform. As we gradually move products/teams into the SPG Canada platform, existing policies will be renewed as SPG Canada. If a product/team is not yet issuing in the new platform, you will continue to receive communications and policies in their legacy brands.

At this time, expiring policies will be assigned new policy numbers at renewal if they are onboarded into the SPG Canada system. Renewal documents will show both the old and new policy numbers (new ones will start with SPGxxxxxxx) and feature the new SPG Canada logo.

Not right away. A new agreement will be introduced later in 2025 to replace existing Terms of Business Agreements (TOBAs). It will be between your brokerage and Specialty Program Group Canada Inc., our legal entity name.

No changes for now. If any updates are implemented, you’ll be contacted directly to advise of the change as we continue to evolve in our delivery of best-in-class product to you and your clients.

Not to worry! If you have taken over an existing policy, please provide our team with the policy number and we will be able to cross-reference a legacy policy number with a new SPG Canada policy number if it has changed.

POLICYHOLDERS

Policy documents will show the new SPG Canada branding, but coverage, service, and support will remain consistent.
