JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join our team. You will manage incoming requests from Brokers, directing them to the appropriate departments through Outlook and NetSuite. Additional responsibilities include assisting with Broker set-up, records management, and supporting project tasks related to workflows and system enhancements.

This is a remote position, but preferably based in Victoria, BC or Vancouver, BC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will:

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with underwriters and brokers through verbal and written communication;
  • Review and ensure all documentation received is attached and filed correctly;
  • Follow procedure guidelines;
  • Ensure assigned workload within quality and productivity;
  • Document observations made during pre-reviews of files to assist underwriters;
  • Communicate internally with other departments via e-mail, Microsoft Teams and telephone; and
  • Build and maintain electronic records following established guidelines and processes

Qualifications AND CHARACTERISTICS

You’re a good fit if you:

  • Have at least 1-2 years of experience with transferrable skills in customer service, or administration. Having experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Ability to function well in a home office environment;
  • Strong understanding of time restraints to allow for quick turnaround for requests; and
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
  • Having experience with NetSuite is considered an asset.

SALARY RANGE

The expected salary range for this position is $40,000 to 45,000 will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope, and level.  Specialty Program Group Canada and affiliated brands are proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which include extended health and dental benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid time off benefits, and a variety of potential bonus opportunities.
